Drake Connect Mp3 Download Lyrics

Artist Drake’s always worn his sleeve influences. For him, Southern rap was formative, fostering his deep, well-advertised Houston admiration. “Connect” demonstrates him spinning his Southern inspirations on something that still undeniably manages to be Drake.

DJ DMD, Lil ‘ Keke and Fat Pat samples “25 Lighters,” one of the most famous songs in hip hop history. Evidently, “Connect” is a tribute to chopped and screwed music, mainly developed by the “25 Lighters” artists who belonged to Screwed Up Click by DJ Screw.

From Fat Pat come the pitched-down bars about swinging that repeat at variable amounts throughout “Connect.” He refers to the Houstonian practice of swerving in muscle cars between lanes with low ground clearance and music blasting out the trunks. Drake attempted to create a syrupy soundtrack for this kind of activity on “Connect.” Drake does his usual thing here, though. He offers some rather bizarre lines about relationship disorders, playing the victim with a penchant to sing out his sorrow.

It’s mostly the immaculate manufacturing of the 40’s that gives off the heavy, disorienting intoxication sensation. Before the final verse, there is a breakdown in the beat that is probably one of the outstanding moments on Nothing Was The Same, ending with a mind-blowing synchronization of car noise that ushers Drake back in.

While chopped and screwed is ideally designed for those late-night drives when you begin to dissociate yourself from everyday reality, Drake’s melancholy adds an additional layer of self-indulgence that enables you to swing as the only one on the street and the only one in the globe.

Quotable Lyrics

My license been expired I renew it after the weekend
Fuck I know I said that shit the last 7 weekends
Girl I guess procrastination is my weakness
I hate stoppin’ for gas this late
Cause there’s n****s creepin and not like how we’re creepin’
